Welcome to my practice, where I bring over 15 years of expertise as a Registered Midwife, Registered Nurse, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). While I primarily serve the upper and lower North Shore, Northern Beaches, and The Hills area of Sydney, I'm here to assist you no matter where you are located.
My journey in healthcare began in 2005 when I embarked on the path of Nursing and Midwifery in South Africa. My first employment was in the birthing unit of the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital in Johannesburg. It was during this time that I encountered the challenges of breastfeeding first-hand with the birth of my first son in 2011. This experience ignited my passion for breastfeeding support, prompting me to further my education and attain the reputable IBCLC certification. I continue to work as a Midwife in a prestigious private hospital, where I'm dedicated to helping mothers and newborns experience the best possible start.
Throughout my career, I've cultivated a deep interest in newborns, delving into their development, temperament, and how the birthing process can influence these crucial early stages of life. To provide comprehensive care, I've expanded my skill set to include infant massage techniques, designed to soothe and nurture the delicate nervous system of newborns. Additionally, I've undergone specialised training in the Gillespie Approach, mastering Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) to address specific issues related to tension in the body.
As part of my commitment to holistic care, I've had the privilege of training under Dr Pam Douglas, a renowned expert in gentle and holistic approaches to infant sleep and settling. As a Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) practitioner, I apply this knowledge to support newborns and their parents, aiming for a natural and holistic approach wherever possible.
In summary, I offer a wide range of qualifications and expertise, including:
- Registered Midwife
- Registered Nurse
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) practitioner
- Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) practitioner
- Infant massage instructor
My mission is to empower parents to relish the newborn phase, and to provide current evidence-based practice, as well as natural techniques, to enhance their baby's overall well-being. With a profound respect for the delicate nature of these precious initial moments, I place the health and welfare of both the mother and the baby at the core of my professional ethos. Contact me today to embark on your journey to a harmonious and joy-filled start to parenthood.
Lactation services provided by an experienced IBCLC can be combined with CFT to help mothers and babies experience ultimate comfort and support while feeding. Address and troubleshoot issues such as low supply, painful feeding, low weight gain, and more.
CFT is a type of bodywork designed to help adults and infants release tension in their bodies through gentle touch techniques. The fascia, an intricate web of connective tissue throughout the body, can hold both physical and emotional trauma that may begin in utero. By releasing this tension, the body can circulate nutrients and detoxify more easily, promoting optimal functioning.
As a Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) Practitioner, I holistically and gently support babies in maximising their sleep. I assist parents in meeting their baby's sensory needs and nutritional requirements, fostering an environment that encourages better sleep.
